Congrats to Coach Echols for being named the 4A Kino Baseball Coach of the Year!

This summer we will be participating in Football, Baseball, Basketball, Cheer, Volleyball and Cross Country. If you are interested, this will be a great way to start off your high school career in a sport that you like and meet other incoming 9th graders. Coach Al is starting at Sahuaro this year. We are so excited about the direction of the Football Program. Coach Al was the assistant head coach at Salpointe Catholic. He helped many athletes play and excel at the College level. Coach Al is also the offensive line coach for the Tucson Sugar Skulls our very own indoor professional football team.  Our football program is always one of the best in the State. We have been to the State Playoffs 10 out of the past 12 years. We have turned out over 40 college players in those 12 years.  Our program is year-round with summer/spring activities and a weights class. Coach Haynes is starting his second year at Sahuaro. In his first year the team qualified for the State Play-offs for the first time in 5 years. Before Sahuaro he was girls’ volleyball coach at Desert Christian for 5 years and the assistant coach for Boys Volleyball at Sabino.  Summer Conditioning and Skills practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 8-9:30am starting June 1st. The Sahuaro High School Baseball Program is one of the richest baseball programs in the state of Arizona. Sahuaro has won 4 State Championships and was twice a state runner-up. The Cougars have produced 6 Major Leaguers, 36 minor leaguers and 100’s of college players.  Former player and current Head Coach Britt Echols is carrying on this rich tradition of winning.  The program is year-round playing not only in the spring but also during the summer, fall, and winter under the club’s name Gatos. Boys Basketball

Coach Henry is a Sahuaro graduate who has coached our Cougars for the last 13 years.  Coach Henry runs a camp at Sahuaro for grades 1-12 during the summer. Our basketball team has made the State Playoffs 10 out of 13 years including 3 Elite 8 appearances.  Coach Henry was the 2018 Dick McConnell Coach of the Year. 18 players have played in college, and one is playing the NBA G league. We will have a summer boys basketball league at Sahuaro High School. Girls Basketball-
Coach Steve Botkin is also the Athletic Director. Email- [email protected]  

Coach Botkin is a Sahuaro graduate who has been the head coach for 23 years. Our girl’s basketball team has qualified for the state playoffs for 34 years in a row and most recently turned out the #1 player in the State and the Gatorade Player of the Year. We have 21 Region Championships, 4 runners up and 2 State Championships. Coach Botkin is second in State History for active coaches with over 590 wins and was most recently named a coach of the Decade by the Arizona Daily Star sportswriter Greg Hansen.  Contact Coach Botkin at 520-731-7135 for girls’ basketball and all sports questions.  We will have our first summer practice on May 31st at 9:00 am and will host a girl’s summer league on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sahuaro.

Coach Nutbrown is a Sahuaro graduate who has been our head coach for 3 years.  Our cheer team has summer plans and will have a tryout in July.  Please reach out to Coach Nutbrown for more information.

Our the Sahuaro Cross Country Coaches. They will have the team working out in the mornings during the summer. We have lots of fun as we participate in team dinners and travel to invitationals. Our program is built to grow you as a runner, and we ease into running. We also coach track and field, and these two sports complement each other. Boys and Girls Swimming-

The Sahuaro boys and girls swim teams have had a storied history for decades.  Including 2 state championships, 2-time state runner up, two Olympic medalists, numerous state champions and state record holders.  Will you be the next Olympian? Come join us!  The 2022 swim season begins August 11th.  The team practices at the Udall Center pool.  Please contact the coaches for more information.

Join the Sahuaro Boys and Girls wrestling team. Workouts begin on July 5th in the Sahuaro High School wrestling room.

Girls Soccer
– Coach David Kruszewski Email- [email protected]

Coach Kruszewski has been coaching the girls’ varsity soccer team at Sahuaro High School for 24 years.  He has compiled a record of 320-152-34.  Selected “coach of the year” 9 times, Kruszewski’s coaching career is highlighted by 9 region championships, 20 consecutive state playoff appearances, 3-time state semi-finalist and state runner-up in 2009.  7 of his players of been selected player of the year and 5 selected to the 1st team “All-Arizona Team”.  Over 40 of his players have gone on to play in college.
